Installation
Wallpaper punishes bad prep more than paint does. Every imperfection under the paper telegraphs through, and every out-of-plumb wall shows up at the seams. We skim and sand the substrate flat, prime with a wallcovering primer so the paper can be removed cleanly years from now, then hang with the pattern matched and the seams tight.
We work with traditional papers, grasscloth and natural fibers, vinyl and commercial-grade wallcoverings, murals, and peel-and-stick.
Removal
Removal is the harder half. Paper hung directly over unprimed drywall takes the paper facing with it, and the wall then needs skim coating before it can hold paint. We score, steam or solution-soak, strip the backing, wash off the remaining adhesive — that residue will reject paint if it is left — then skim, sand, and prime to a genuinely paint-ready wall.

Wallpaper — common questions
Can you paint over wallpaper?
Sometimes, but it is usually a bad idea. Seams and texture telegraph through the paint, and any moisture in the paint can loosen the adhesive and bubble the paper. Removing it and skimming the wall gives a far better result that lasts.
How do you remove wallpaper without damaging the drywall?
We score the surface, steam or solution-soak the paper, strip the backing, then wash off all remaining adhesive. If the paper was hung over unprimed drywall, some facing damage is unavoidable, and we skim coat and sand the wall back to a paint-ready surface.
Do you supply the wallpaper?
You can supply it or we can order it. We will tell you how many rolls the job needs based on the pattern repeat, including the waste factor that pattern matching requires — people almost always underestimate this.
Is an accent wall cheaper than a whole room?
Yes, materially and in labor. An accent wall behind a bed or in a dining room is one of the highest-impact, lowest-cost changes you can make to a room.
